Bachelor in Psychology, Master of Applied Psychology, and Postgraduate Diploma in the Practice of Psychology. Member of New Zealand Psychologists Board (NZPB) and New Zealand Psychological Society (NZPsS)
Rachel Yücel is a registered psychologist based in Tāmaki Makaurau, where she was raised. From a young age, she held a deep curiosity about people and the world around her – a curiosity that led her to travel extensively across Asia, South America, the Middle East, and Europe, including several years living in Dubai. These experiences have shaped her culturally responsive and inclusive approach to psychology.
As a mother to a lively four-year-old daughter, Rachel brings a personal understanding of the complexities of motherhood from shifting identity and evolving relationships to the emotional highs and challenges of daily life. This maternal lens enriches her practice, allowing her to connect with whānau in an empathetic and authentic way.
Rachel has over a decade of professional experience supporting individuals across the lifespan in clinical, school, whānau, and residential settings. She has spent several years working closely with parents and families raising children with disabilities, and understands the unique challenges they may face, including identity shifts, relational strain, emotional stress, and burnout. She is deeply committed to inclusive and neuroaffirming practice, with a particular passion for supporting neurodiverse individuals and equipping parents with the tools and understanding needed to foster connection and confidence.
Rachel brings a warm, compassionate, and person-centred approach to her work. She provides psychological services to young people, adults, couples, and families, drawing on evidence-based therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. She tailors her interventions to each individual’s needs, supporting meaningful change.
